(A) Baitiangong is made up of followers with different perspectives [28:03 – 32:27]
  1. Xian Sheng greeted all the brothers and sisters at the function. He added that everyone are brothers and sisters regardless of whether they are followers or not.
  2. Xian Sheng related the story of the Man, the Boy, and the Donkey from the Fables of Aesop. Xian Sheng wanted everyone to listen and understand that everyone has different perspectives toward Baitiangong (with respect to the Spiritual Movement and the teachings).
  3. A group of people who saw the father and his son leading the donkey to the market said they were fools for failing to make use of the donkey. At the very least, let the young boy ride on the donkey. So the man lifted his son onto the donkey and proceeded on their way.
  4. Another group of people commented on the lazy boy who lets his father walk while he rides the donkey. The man thought about it and then ordered his son to get down and got on himself. So the son walk while his father rode on the donkey.
  5. They came across another group that had a different perspective. How can the old man let his young son trudge along while he rides comfortably on the donkey? He should switch places with his son. The man thought to himself, when I was leading the donkey, those people said that it was wrong. So I switched places with my son and these people said this is wrong. So the man took his son up before him on the donkey and they both rode towards the market.
  6. Further on, another group with a completely different perspective shamed both the man and the boy for overloading the donkey. So both the man and the boy got down from the donkey. It was wrong not to use the donkey, it was wrong to let the boy use the donkey, it was wrong to let the man use the donkey and finally it was wrong for both of them to use the donkey.
  7. Xian Sheng concluded by stating that those who dislike Baitiangong will see it wrong from any perspective. When will they ever like Baitiangong? We could not be bothered with them in Baitiangong. Xian Sheng could not be bothered by them.
  8. Xian Sheng said that we accepted Baitiangong because it is right from our perspective, irrespective of what others’ perspectives are. That is why the Baitiangong Universal Spiritual Movement is made up of followers with different perspectives.
(B) From his perspective, it’s correct [32:44 – 35:29]
  1. Prior to joining Baitiangong, a follower said he saw Xian Sheng conducting the Baitiangong way of Marriage. He saw Xian Sheng ask the couple to kneel down and pray to the CREATOR. He thought that Xian Sheng was the Marriage Officiant who officiates the wedding ceremony.
  2. In reality, the Baitiangong way of Marriage does not need a Marriage Officiant. The couples only have to kneel down and pray to the CREATOR to seek the CREATOR’s blessing in marriage. Baitiangong brothers and sisters would then consider them husband and wife.
  3. He enquired why so many followers were present at the marriage ceremony. Xian Sheng said the followers were there to pray to the CREATOR for both the couples to be granted their requests. The bridegroom has his own request. The bride has her own request. For example, the bridegroom could request for his wife to have eyes only for him and no other man while the bride could request for her husband to love only her and not think of other women. That could be what they requested in their prayers. If the CREATOR fulfils their request, that would be a boon to them. Otherwise, it does not matter (Once we have made a request, put aside the request from our minds and not think anymore about it. Refer to 02A-2000: G11-18) What is important about the presence of the followers – preferably a minimum of five brothers and five sisters – is that they would collectively pray to the CREATOR:
    – for the request of both couples to be granted,
    – for the couple to love each other,
    – for the couple to help each other,
    – for the couple’s safe daily commute, good health, a smooth work career and all things good in life.
  4. He continued to listen and after he heard Xian Sheng say, “We live to go through an examination in life, and we die to live”, he decided to join Baitiangong. From his perspective, what he saw in the Baitiangong way of Marriage and what he heard Xian Sheng say about life’s examination prompted him to say, “It’s correct”. With that one quote, “It’s correct”, he joined the Spiritual Movement and remained a follower to this day.
(C) Baitiangong Way of Obsequies is correct [35:36 – 42:23]
  1. In another situation that took place during a Baitiangong way of Obsequies, a non-Baitiangong person was paying attention to Xian Sheng’s sermon. He heard Xian Sheng explain to those present that the deceased dressed in all white with five yellow buttons (representing the element Earth) has completed his examination in life and his soul will start its life on that day. “We live to go through an examination in life, and we die to live”. Xian Sheng frequently quotes this phrase to remind followers while the body is real, it is transient, but the soul is a reality and it is eternal. When we say a person passed away, we are referring to the soul passing away from the body.
  2. What do the followers do at the obsequies? The followers took turns to kneel down, face skywards and pray for the deceased as follows, “GOD, Bro ________ has passed away at the age of ____. Please forgive him of his sins. Please let his soul leave peacefully. If deserving, please give him a place in Heaven.”
  3. Xian Sheng continued his explanation on life examination stating that he can condone the actions of people who cheat their parents as the parents can become aware that they have been cheated, but when people cheat their deceased parents, how do we justify that?
  4. As an example, when you give your parents RM100 or RM500, they would accept as they can spend it. When you give your parents money for tours, they would accept as they can go on tours. But what can you do for your deceased parents?
  5. Xian Sheng cited an example of his deceased friend that used to hang out together named Mr Cheong. Before he passed away he related the following incident to Xian Sheng. One day, Mr Cheong assembled all his sons and asked each of them to give him RM300 every month. In exchange, he does not want a grandiose funeral but merely to cremate his body and scatter his ashes into the sea. Mr Cheong wanted to accumulate enough money for a fling in Thailand as he kept hearing the exciting exploits of an old fox who frequented Thailand from the hang-out group. Mr Cheong is old but he wanted to see and experience Thailand for himself. Mr Cheong kept waiting for the money that never came. He bitterly told Xian Sheng that his delinquent sons denied him the pleasure to go to Thailand despite him releasing them from the burden of an expensive funeral.
  6. One day, as Xian Sheng was driving to the City, he saw one of Mr Cheong’s sons by the roadside. Xian Sheng offered to give him a ride. On the way to the city, Xian Sheng enquired about his father. His son replied that he had left. Xian Sheng naturally asked where Mr Cheong has left for. Apparently left is another term for passed away. Xian Sheng told the son what Mr Cheong had said to him regarding his delinquent sons refusing to give him RM300 every month in exchange for a simple cremation and ash scattering into the sea ceremony. Xian Sheng asked whether they fulfilled their filial piety duty as sons. The son exclaimed, “Yes!” and proceeded to explain to Xian Sheng how filial piety the siblings were by burning extravagant amounts of joss paper, hell money and joss paper buildings for their father. Xian Sheng instantly castigated the son accusing him of cheating his deceased father as they cannot afford to give their father his meagre RM300 a month request that he wanted when he was alive, but can afford to splash out money to burn an extravagant amount of joss papers and hell money that he did not want in death.
  7. Xian Sheng asked the followers whether they agreed with him that the sons cheated their father. When their father was alive, they refused to give him the money he wanted. But after their father passed away, they burned lots of hell money for him. To illustrate his point, Xian Sheng asked the followers to go to a Chinese funeral supply store to buy stacks of $100 hell money to give to their father and see if their father wants them or not. Naturally, no father alive would want a single piece of these printed hell currencies, Xian Sheng sniggered. So when you burn hell money for your deceased father, you are cheating him. Xian Sheng continued with another example. A father who asked for a bungalow house was denied his request, but after he passed away, his sons burned a joss paper bungalow house for him. Once again, Xian Sheng asked if the sons were trying to cheat their father by burning a joss paper bungalow to appease his soul for not buying a real bungalow house when he was alive.
  8. And to finally drive home his point, Xian Sheng proposed a ludicrous scenario in which he told everyone around him to refrain from dying earlier than him. Xian Sheng is licensed to own firearms and ammunition. He also has the money to buy an entire funeral supply shop. After making sure they would burn all the joss papers, stacks and stacks of hell money and 31 joss paper bungalows with the photos of 31 beautiful actresses from his new funeral shop, he would put the pistol to his head and pull the trigger. Then he would be able to enjoy all the offerings burnt for him.
  9. It so happens that the non-Baitiangong person who was listening to Xian Sheng’s sermon during the obsequies perceived what Xian Sheng said to be correct in his perspective. He subsequently joined the Spiritual Movement as a follower. One follower joined because, in his perspective, the Baitiangong way of Marriage is correct. This follower joined because, in his perspective, the Baitiangong way of Obsequies is correct. The obsequy is correct in his perspective because it is economical, not wasteful, it is realistic, not superstitious and it is real, not staged.
  10. Our Baitiangong Universal Spiritual Movement is therefore made up of brothers and sisters with different backgrounds and different perspectives on why they joined in.
(D) All perspectives are correct if they led us to pray to the CREATOR [43:50 – 44:42]
  1. As far as Baitiangong is concerned, if we perceived Baitiangong is correct, if others perceived Baitiangong is correct, and if everyone accepts Baitiangong because of it, Xian Sheng shall openly embrace us into Baitiangong.
  2. And if everyone gathers together to debate and discuss their individual perspective, we will come to an understanding that all our perspectives regarding Baitiangong are correct. That is why Baitiangong comprises brothers and sisters with different perspectives but the combination of all perspectives leads to one conclusion – to pray to the CREATOR.
(E) GOD is above all [49:52 – 50:30]
  1. Bro Loh showed Xian Sheng who was illiterate in the Chinese language, the intricacies of the Chinese strokes to form written characters. Bro Loh explained the character for king is written as 王. A king is very big and powerful, but only here on Earth. But a single stroke above the character King formed the character GOD 主. GOD is therefore above, bigger and more powerful than King. Xian Sheng is very satisfied to hear Bro Loh’s explanation.
  2. Bro Loh proceeded with writing the character for man 人. If we add a stroke to 人, the character becomes big 大 which is the character used to form characters like big, large, major, great and powerful which made man the most dominant on planet Earth. But when man meets Heaven 天, Heaven 天 covers all the greatness 大 of man 人. Man is a speck of dust when compared to the Earth. The Earth is a speck of dust when compared to the sun. The sun is a speck of dust when compared to the galaxy. All the suns, moons and planets combined are a speck of dust compared to the universe. And all of creation when compared to the CREATOR is nothing but a speck of dust.
  3. The Chinese characters reflect the wisdom of the ancient Chinese people that GOD is above King and man as all it takes is a stroke of the pen.
  4. GOD 主, TIANGONG 天公, and the CREATOR 创造者 are used interchangeably but refer to the one CREATOR.
  5. Chinese have sayings like 人算不如天算 (Man proposes, but GOD disposes), 天有眼 (Heaven sees all) and 天无绝人之路 (Heaven does not restrict one’s path).
  6. As the saying goes, “Heaven does not restrict one’s path”, Xian Sheng is here to tell us that the CREATOR exists. When Jesus came to Earth to ask people to pray to the CREATOR, they say he talk nonsense. Unfortunately, Christians have deviated and now pray to Jesus as GOD. When Prophet Muhammad came to Earth to ask people to pray to the CREATOR, they say that Muslims have to circumcise and cannot eat pork and therefore not suitable for the Chinese community.
  7. Xian Sheng is here today and he appears to us as a Chinese man to preach to the Chinese community. What does Xian Sheng ask from the Chinese people? He asked the following:
    – To pray to the CREATOR
    – To pray until we fear nothing except the CREATOR
    – To pray until we think good, see good, hear good, speak good and do good.
“How can that be wrong? Is that not right? If that is not right, then what is right”, Xian Sheng exclaimed saying he doesn’t know anymore if what he said is considered wrong too.
  8. Jesus and Prophet Muhammad came to Earth to ask people to pray to the CREATOR. Xian Sheng is here to ask people to pray to the CREATOR. Xian Sheng wants everyone to ask themselves whether this is wrong.
  9. “Money is not all-powerful. You can have loads of money, but you cannot take a single cent with you in death. You came empty-handed, and you leave empty-handed too”, Xian Sheng reminded the brothers and sisters present at the event.
  10. “In Baitiangong, you will also leave empty-handed, but you leave to go to Heaven”, Xian Sheng said on the condition that followers pray until they fear nothing except the CREATOR, pray until they think good, see good, hear good, speak good and do good and live a life free from telling lies and cheating others.
